Slept in - AGAIN!

Good morning. I overslept this morning, eek. So, now I have to run tonight, rain or shine. I prefer to work out before the sun comes up, but am a slug right now recovering from a weekend of bodily injustices like cheesecake and lots of meat! Ugh.

I did swim last night and I swam 16 laps = 800m. I have been doing 500. As a warm up I did 100 breast stroke, then went right into freestyle and did 800, then did 100 backstroke cooldown. I wore the belt for the first 10 laps and then no belt for the last 6. I tried to count my strokes for awhile to see how many it takes me to get from one end of the pool to the other, I am between 25 and 28. I have no idea if that is good or bad. I tried to visualize swimming downhill and flipping from side to side as I stroked. I tried to be aware of my back half and to keep it upright in the water instead of letting my hips sink. Swimming is hard ya’ll. There are way too many element to consider! I still have to rest at each end of the length. I am going to work my way up to 1000m and then not go beyond that until I am swimming straight through without so many rests. I emailed a masters swim group at Hathaway Brown (a high school by my house), I hope to hear back b/c I think I would benefit greatly from that.

Another day at work, another dollar. Sigh. I wish I could get paid to work out! At one point I seriously considered taking classes to become a personal trainer. But the truth is I am really bad at science! And also, after talking to a few people who do it I realized the earning potential is not what I thought…but I still think about it from time to time. I just know you have to start out at a gym and I’d be making peanuts and we have a hard enough time making ends meet without taking a 20K pay cut.

So, tonight I will run 6-9 miles. I hope it doesn’t rain! I hope it’s a good run. The 3 runs I’ve had since the HM have not been good, I didn’t feel good, I never got into a groove. So, running gods, help me out tonight I am in need of a good run. No rain, no wind, no side stitches please.

You shouldn't feel guilty for sleeping in, sometimes you just need to catch up on some much needed rest. I know how trips can drain you!!

I think being a personal trainer would be a great job for you. You should look into it.

Peace

I didn't know you live in CH and are tri-training! Neil just told me that you're a runner (not that that's not huge in itself). Figures a guy would leave out major details.

It's been a bear (maybe I just feel like a bear) recovering and running with the 50 pounds of extra tarts and turkeys I ate last week. But good for you pushing on.

You'll have to let me know where you swim. As we're preparing to migrate north, I've realized that I don't know places to swim (anymore) in Cleveland. I was a Euclid girl, so I only know the high schools and Y's. And Case's pool doesn't seem to welcome early swimmers: it doesn't open until 8 or 9. What's that about?

I've thought about the personal trainer deal too. Wouldn't it be nice for training to be your job?

Thanks for visiting the blog(s), and sorry for the novella. I'll have a look at the -ston houses; I appreciate your help.

P.S. Tell Neil CH is cool. The doofuses in his secret IT area keep trying to scare him with their unbridled jealousy.

MONICA!!!! I totally was telling my trainer the other day that I wanted to quit my job and be a trainer or a nutritionist or do sports medicine! Not only would I get to do what I really really enjoy BUT I could totally wear super comfy athletic clothes!

Anyway, I hope you got a run in! I was going to swim but I think I'm getting sick. :( So I'll do some yoga and jump in bed and read some more of the book club book. I don't know if I'm going to have it done by Sunday!

Well, you got no rain, but some wind and hopefully, no side stitches. Other than that I hope your run went well.

Good to hear the swimming is coming along. I try to focus on one thing at a time when it comes to technique....otherwise I get all messed up thinking about too much. If you found a good coach that will really help. The tri swimming clinic @ Oberlin has improved my stroke after just one session.
