Day 4/84

Oooh hooo. 2 more hours and I can get out of this place. I am so ready for this trip. I unfortunately have quite a bit going on at work to leave my co-workers with. Today Kim and I are going to go for a short run. Tomorrow a 2 hour bike ride when we get to Lake Placid. Saturday a 56 mile ride (one loop on the IM course) followed by a 30 min run. Sunday a 2 hour run and maybe another short bike after breakfast, then we leave LP and head back to Rochester. I will then probably drive on home. So, 8 hours in the car on Sunday ugh.

I am contemplating going to see a nutritionist. Cleveland bloggy friends, any recommendations? I need someone who knows endurance sports. Why, why, why don’t long bike rides and runs just equal weight losssssssss. Grrrrrr.

Just saw your poll on the side. For long rides and runs, I'm finding that Hammer's Sustained Energy and/or HammerBars work great for me. They're both gentle on the gut and keep me moving on without the crash of prolonged use of gels (and even HEED, which I love for shorter workouts).

Regarding endurance sports and weight loss, don't count on it. I'm up nearly 10lbs since I started half-IM training.

Have a great trip Monica. Can't wait to hear about the LP course.

Have a great trip! I find that I can EITHER (1) try to lose weight OR (2) train. It's too hard to do both ... it's so much easier to lose weight when you are doing, say, 30 minutes on the ET and a 10 min walk.

monica...give me all the scoop on that course..okay.. contemplating entering 09 Ironman Lake Placid.

As for nutrition..there is a very good triathlete, trimarni, who is a sports nutritionist..she has great advice on her blog.. haven't seen her personal profile page to see if there is a email or not...
she is really sharp.
look forward to getting your impressions on the course...
