Think like a fish

I tell you what, I am just not a good swimmer. I don't know why I can't seem to get it together. I really think I need to just get out in the open water and practice, being able to touch the wall every 25 yards is just too convenient. I went swimming this morning and I do well for 25 and then I am just gasping for air. I try to slow down, but only really have one speed. Argh. I hope I can be out of the water in 20 mins on Sunday. I am ready for this race to be over so at least I'll have an idea of what to expect.

Swam 1500 yards this morning, tonight I will bike a few miles and then run short. Tomorrow I have a 6 mile run planned with the lovely Iron G and Salty. I am very much looking forward to that! Then later in the day I am going to head over to Beth's to swim in my wetsuit in Aurora lake. First time using it, should be interesting. Sunday is the big day and then I have a baby shower right afterwards. It's going to be a hectic day.

I have been lurking on your blog for awhile now and am really enjoying following your Tri journey. Just a comment about the swimming. I am reading the book "Total Immersion." If you haven't read it, you may want to to help with the swimming

The good thing about the swim is that it's the shortest event (time and distance wise) so as long as you can make out out of the swim, you'll make it up on the bike and run! Are swim lessons an option for you? Maybe a few private lessons would help with your form and confidence. Looking forward to hearing about your FIRST TRI!!

Monica...

Just think of the word...control when you are in the water.

dont think about flashing through the water...just think about each stroke...easy...control....

you can do this..and you can do this well. soon, you will be blowing by any stuff i have done and maybe when you do, I will still be your tri-friend.. ;)
go get em sunday...
rock it!!!!

Great job on your first tri! All you can expect is to go out there and have fun..and feel the sport out. Now you know what it is...so it will be easier to conquer! Get it!
